Firewood chopping and ‘masterpieces’ crafted from recycled wood pellets…
Been doing a few things with wood pellets that I obtain for free from the neighborhood…
Had done an outdoor toilet, chicken coop, and a shelf for storing things… (See the category ‘Masterpieces’ for more)
The above is the latest project in the series…
Yes, a structure to store and dry our firewood…
I must admit that I am hopeless with constructing structures from scratch…
So, you can see that I ‘cheated’ by making use of the wooden boxes that I got for free…
These boxes provide the ‘pillars’ for me to ‘construct’ the structure…
A neighbor was cutting off some oak trees in his property…
My missus was quick to ask him to give us the wood…
He was going to burn them in the open, and he was glad that we ‘help’ him to get rid of the wood for him…
Yes, was sawing and chopping the wood for some time now…
You can see that there is quite a lot of wood to be processed…
Late last year, I bought a camping axe…
Thought I could use it to chop the smaller pieces of wood…
But no, this axe is somewhat like a ‘sissy’ to me…
It is just too light, too soft…
As the manufacturer says, good for camping perhaps…
This is a box that I use to store the pieces of wood that I use for my projects…
Also set up another box to store some larger pieces of wood that I obtained from a wood dealer…
I am keeping them for the time being, thinking that I can use them in some project in the future…

I really like the structure you created for drying your firewood. I think you were fortunate to get the wood from your neighbor’s tree. That should provide some nice warm fires.

I bought a same pcs too Bacho axe …yet to see action ..but it does look lame .hehe

Oh! these are interesting projects. Good that you are using the pellets; otherwise they were going to go to some dumpster. If you started the project from scratch, you needed to buy wood — waste of your money and natural resources. I wish I would get hands on so many wood pellets :-).
Why was your neighbor taking down the oak tree?
Yes, they are such a joy to work on… and you are right about the wood… it cost quite a bit to buy… our neighbor had to clear the oak trees as part of the measure to prevent landslides in his property…
Hi Lrong, if I were near you I can have some of those to have some baby projects too. I have a dream of becoming a carpenter, maybe one small table will pacify that dream but still haven’t done even the legs, haha! By the way, i was in Manila Hotel last Thursday for one of our activities in the office, and i remember you. I love their croissant but i can’t eat much of the lunch and dinner.

I feel really lucky to be able get the wood as and when I want them… ah, Manila Hotel… the breakfast there was really sumptuous!
our neighbour taught us to leave our firewood out for a winter’s rain – then use it the next year. We have enough for one more winter. Hoping our home will fnd a new owner before the winter sets in. Altho we’ll miss the fire, till we’ve done the renovations in the next house.
Leaving the wood out for a winter’s rain seem like a good idea… hope you get to sell your house soon….
Well- I just found your other ( this) site! Wonderful! Great stuff! I collect bits and pieces too and store them in the storage area under the house. I’m no carpenter woman but I’ve been known to build a make- shift thing or two. What a lucky duck you are getting all the free firewood! I’m going at my garden again this year. I’ve been studying loads of stuff on the Internet and I’ve decided to create a sort of permaculture/cottage garden. As a matter if fact after I write this I’m going outside in a few minutes. The sun is just coming up and I want to get some planting done today and then talk a little walk to the local nursery to see what’s going on over there- I need a few seed potatoes and such.

I’m posting videos here and there- when you have time stop by the blog – not much to see yet but there is some progress. I haven’t given up yet.
When I saw your wood stove, I started to hunt one in my area and I doubt if there is still a valid one around in the market. Here, the trees chopped down along the road side are abundant but the people here just burnt off good fat for nothing. Wonderful wood house and it’s my childhood memories too..
Woah, what a waste of wood resources to have them burnt just like that… I would love to pick them up for my stove…
